Peter Riddihough

Writer | Director | Videographer | Editor
BA, BAA

I am a filmmaker – writer, producer, director, videographer, editor – with over ten years of professional experience in film, video and new media production, largely with a focus on factual, non-fiction story-telling. My work ranges from marketing & communication videos for corporate & not-for-profit clients to television commercials to feature documentary films. I have a passion for visual storytelling and a facility with people, both on camera and off. I’m also a resourceful problem solver who gets things done well.

As a producer I know how to take ideas from the page to the screen. As a videographer I have an instinctive sense of composition and a precise eye for detail. As a director and storyteller I look for two things; the basic elements needed to construct a story, and the more subtle elements, the unique details or approach that adds perspective and depth to a character, scene or story.

My feature documentary films, One Man’s Island and Jump, were selected for prominent film festivals in Canada and abroad, and were broadcast on television in Canada and the UK. One Man’s Island continues to be distributed worldwide and is a cult favorite amongst motorcyclists.

Along with my own film work, I also explore other areas of collaboration; as a part of “Sector N Collective” I work as a projection & lighting designer, alongside a choreographer & a sound designer, to create site specific performance installations.

I was born in Dublin, Ireland and raised on the west coast of Canada. I studied English & Politics at the University of Toronto and Film Studies at Ryerson University.
