About The Project

Jump was my second feature documentary and, like One Man’s Island, another exploration of the idea of risk. Basejumping shares with motorcycle road-racing the need for precise focus on a very simple task in a context that includes genuine mortal consequences. Where sports have become better regulated and sports technology vastly improved, the opportunities to find such challanges are increasingly rare. (not for me, my appetite for heartstopping risk is entirely satisfied by making films)

Though the film was made in 2006, it’s important to know that it’s production was still limited by available technology – we were recording to tape and there was no such thing as a GoPro Hero camera that records in HD on a memory card in zero light.
